Lighting your Child’s Room

When it comes to our children, it’s natural that we only want the best for them. We want them safe, and we want them be as comfortable as possible. One of the first places to start doing that is at home, more specifically, your child’s bedroom. Lighting is one of the most important factors to consider to ensure a safe, comfortable children’s bedroom. Below are some tips to point you in the right direction.

  1. Install Night Lights

You want to be able to check your children at night without disrupting their sleep. To do that, you want to install a very soft night light, preferably one that generates a warm colour.

  1. Pick Child Safe Lighting

Always pick lighting solutions that are safe for children. The presence of mercury in fluorescent lamps and tubes pose a significant danger to infants should these lights break. To be safe, stick with LED light bulbs, which contain no mercury or other toxic materials.

  1. Accessible Switches

You’ll also want to consider installing light switches near your children’s bed or at a height they can reach, making it easier for them to use the bedroom lights, for instance, for trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

  1. Sensor Lighting

Another good idea is to use LED guidelights connected to sensors that automatically switch on the lights when it senses movement in your child’s bedroom. This is a good thing to have with toddlers, who might have a tendency to play with switches.
