Home library lighting

No matter how many eBooks you have on a tablet, a library is still more impressive. Reading is one of the best past times anyone can have, and any bookworm would love to have a library in their own home. It doesn’t have to be extravagant and hold thousands of titles; it can be a small space where one can run to and read for hours undisturbed is enough.

Below are a few tips on how you can make a cozy library at home.

Space Matters Choose a good space. Depending on how your home is laid out and the space you have to work with, try to pick an area where it’s not loud and heavily trafficked. Try a corner of a room, or if you have one, the guest bedroom will work wonderfully.

Number of Books If you’re the type of person who collects books, then you might want to have a bookshelf that reaching the ceiling. Smaller shelves that can even be placed on tables are an option for those who only have a few books. You can even add on a nice lamp with LED bulbs on top.

Colors Classic library colors are dark browns, hunter greens, and rich burgundy. However, you can give it a more modern look by painting it with bright, light colors. It all depends on preference and how you want your space to look.

Get Secured Bookshelves Make sure your bookshelf is secure enough to hold your books and the little accessories that you plan to place on them. There are ready-made shelves in home improvement and furniture shops that you can choose from or you can get a professional carpenter to help you with building one.

Proper Lighting Although new studies have shown that reading in the dark actually doesn’t damage your eyes, it sure is uncomfortable. Choose lamps and light fixtures that cast a nice glow. Try warm toned LEDs to light up the area and make your reading more relaxing.
