Power Saving Tips

Many homeowners agree that we need to be responsible enough to find ways to save power. There are a number of ways to save power, and the little things that we do every day can make a big difference. Here are a few everyday things that you can do to help save power.

Utilize your Windows Suring the warmer months, open up your windows to let the light and wind in. this way, you won’t have to keep using your air conditioner to keep your home cool. As autumn and winter rolls in, help your heater out by keeping your windows closed and your home well insulated.

Tie your curtains back to let the light in even when your windows are closed. Sunlight also lets the light in so your home looks welcoming and bright. Plus, it’s free and you’re not spending a single cent in making your home look amazing.

Shift to Energy Efficient Bulbs There are a lot of energy efficient or power friendly bulbs in the market, and since lights use a huge percent of our daily power consumption, using power friendly bulbs is a great way to save. Although we’re used to incandescent bulbs, they use too much power to light up and they easily burn out because of the filament inside them. New power efficient bulbs use a fraction of power incandescent bulbs use and they also offer a better light output

Power Saving Investments Timers and sensors are your best investments if you want to save power. These basically help you maximize when your lights turn on. It’s a big help, especially for areas where the lights are easily forgotten like the garage or hallway. Sensors make them turn on only where something triggers them, and it automatically turns off after a certain amount of time.

Timers are great for outdoor lights since they take out the worries of making sure you turned them off before you leave home and you’ll never come home to a dark house again. Both of these are compatible with new bulbs like LEDs.
