Home Décor - Lighting A Bookshelf
Book lovers love to show off their books and place them neatly on a shelf. Some even have mini-libraries where they showcase all the amazing books they’re collected over the years. These shelves can actually make your space even more interesting with just a few lighting accents. Below are a few tips on how you can add some décor to your book shelves.
Install LED tubes You can find these at any light supply or home improvement store. These tubes are made with little LED bulbs and usually look like holiday lights. These are sold in meters or yards, and are fairly inexpensive. You can place these behind your books so they can illuminate them from the back. It gives your bookshelf an interesting look and it also helps light up the area so you can find a book easier. You can also place these under each level of the shelves so they can light the books from the top.
Figurines with Lights Place little details like figurines, snow globes even little statutes that have lights on them. These are commonly battery powered, but they do draw attention and some of these are even every creative and attractive. They’re a big help in wrapping the whole design together and just adds a little touch of fun to the space. Look around in garage sales, flea markets and thrift shops for them.
Reading Lights Most of the time, readers usually have a small space near their bookshelves where they curl up and read of hours on end. It’s a good idea to place lamps or other lights around the shelves to help you read your book. You can even use those battery-powered lamps with LED light bulbs that you can easily move around.
