Save on LEDs

In most households, lighting can take up a significant percentage of the total power usage. This is why many people are switching to energy friendly bulbs to save on power and their monthly electricity bill. A common eco-friendly bulb is the light-emitting diode (LED) bulb, however most hesitate to buy these since they’re pricier compared to other bulbs in the market. Good thing there are ways for you to save when buying these bulbs. Here are a few tips.

Cut coupons Never underestimate the powers of a good coupon. Check the Sunday paper or magazines for any special and discounts that you can get. Some hardware stores even offer special coupons through their monthly catalogues. Others would even just give it away outside or every time you purchase something from the store. They might not seem much, but if you collect them and use a number of them the next time you purchase something, you’ll be amazed at the savings you can get.

Buy in bulk Everything tends to be cheaper if you buy in bulk. Switching to LED bulbs might look much, but if you but the bulbs all at once, you get a discounted price. You can also try to get the bulbs at a factory outlet so you’ll get a better deal. Remember, just stick with one or two brands since most stores only allow special whole sale prices for the same items.

Check out other brands and options A few years ago, when the LED technology was still new in the market, a number for experts predicted that prices will definitely go down in a few years. More producers will rise up and develop new designs and bulbs, leading to a competitive market. Nowadays, in-house brands are even offering their own LED products. There are hundreds of brands to choose from and price ranges have varied. So look around and check what brands offer a lower price for the same value.
