Making your Holiday Lights Frugal and Festive

Holiday Festiv Lights

Brightening up the holidays with lights has always been a time long tradition for many of us. We use bright and colorful holiday lights and ornaments and place them outside and inside our homes. However, keep out holiday decorations frugal and festive can be a bit tricky.

Below are a few tips to help you keep that festive look without spending too much power.

Choose Ornaments with LED lights If you’re still using holiday lights that you’ve had for years and years, it’s probably time for you to get a new set. There are a number of products to choose from in the market, but the best type to get would be the ones that use LED lights. These are energy efficient bulbs which mean they consume far less power and they last much longer compared to regular lights

Automatically Time It So you won’t accidentally leave you holiday lights on all day, install one of those automatic times on the power source. Do this for both indoor and outdoor lights. This way, you won’t have to keep worrying about making sure you turned the lights off before leaving home. An added bonus to using this is that you won’t come home to a dark house since the timer can also automatically turn the lights on for you.

Color It Up Don’t forget to add color to your lights. LED strings come in a wide variety of colors and even sizes so choose ones that fit your theme or motif. Don’t be afraid to use colors or styles that you’ve never used before and don’t be limited to the common holiday colors.

Safety First Finally, don’t forget to pick out products that passed strict quality and safety assurance protocols. LEDs are actually safer to use since they don’t heat up as much as conventional bulbs do, so even when you keep these on for hours they’re less likely become a fire hazard.
