Shedding More Light on CFLs vs. LEDs

 LEDs and CFLs have become the top two energy efficient choices for consumers when they go out to get a light bulb. But which one is really better? Recently, we received an LED light bulb to try out. We've used compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) before with mixed results and have not always been happy with how they work. Sometimes they're too dim or the light is colored. Still, because it's so much less expensive to run CFL light bulbs, we reluctantly changed most of the lights in our house. Ilyce insisted on keeping some halogen bulbs where we needed intense light and where we wanted to make sure the light came on instantly, most notably in the kitchen. Continue reading at Chicago Tribune
